Thinking about starting a new career as a truck driver?
Getting your Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) might be easier — and faster — than you think. With the right preparation and support, you can go from zero to behind the wheel in as little as 30 days.
Here’s how you can do it:
1. Choose Your CDL Type
There are different types of CDLs:
- Class A for heavy trucks and long hauls
- Class B for local deliveries and smaller commercial vehicles
If you’re aiming for the highest earning potential and most opportunities, start with Class A.
2. Enroll in a CDL Training Program
Find a licensed CDL school or partner agency. Programs typically last 3 to 4 weeks and include both:
- Classroom instruction (rules, safety, regulations)
- Behind-the-wheel training (actual driving)
Some employers — including those we work with — even sponsor your training.
3. Pass the Written & Skills Test
You’ll need to pass:
- A written knowledge test (study your state’s CDL manual)
- A skills/road test with a certified examiner
Practice is key. Most schools will walk you through both.
4. Start Applying for Jobs
Once you’re licensed, Almost G Staffing can match you with top employers — many of whom are hiring entry-level CDL drivers right now.
